An old Mission Statement says the same thing in a lot more words: Grace United Methodist church is an intentional community of believers, under the grace, discipline and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The community's mission is to provide and maintain an atmosphere of nurture and support in which the redemptive fellowship gathers to hear the Word of God and to receive the Sacraments, and scatters to carry forward their charge which Christ has committed to his Church - to be the Body of Christ in the World.

Worship Services and Fellowship
Sunday School - 9:00 am (contemporary) and 10:30 am (traditional)
Sunday Worship Service - 10:00 a.m., beginning with a 9:40 a.m. social
Choir Practice - Wednesdays (except during the summer).
Quilters - Tuesdays at 9:30 am.
Knitters - 1:00 pm on Thursdays
Bible Study - Tuesdays at 7:00 pm. A small pot luck is held at 6:30 pm before the evening class. During the Summer join us at Oak Lake Park instead for a "Walk Around the Park." An informal time for discussion and enjoying each other.
Senior Citizens - Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Holy Communion - Celebrated the 1st Sunday of every month (including a Food Pantry offering)
Church Administration and Operations
Administrative Council - 7:30 PM on the Second Sunday of each month (unless conflict with a holiday).
Finance Committe - Thursday before Ad Council.
Food Net - 5:00 pm on Thursday
Grace Book Club - 10 am on scheduled Saturdays. Contact church for specific dates and lists of books to be discussed.
Literacy Council - English as a second language on Thursdays 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
"Plan Do" Meeting - Meetings with area churches on joint ministries.) - Third Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm. Call the church office for meeting site or contact the Lincoln District office at 464-5015.Program committees - 6:30 PM prior to Ad Council. These committees are Witness (includes music, worship service), Outreach (plans activities in the greater community), and Nurture (education, member contacts, congregation activities).
Staff Parrish Relations Committe - Meets every other month.
Trustees - (supervises the church building) meet the fourth Tuesday at 6:30 pm.
United Methodist Men (UMM) - St. James on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 8 AM to 9 AM for breakfast and fellowship at The Pantry, 2548 South 48th Street, North of Van Dorn. The 4th Wednesday from September through May is the supper meeting at 6 PM at St. James UMC (2400 South 11th Street).
United Methodist Women (UMW) - General meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of the month, October through May at 12:30 PM and June and September meeting at 6 PM. All are at the church.
United Methodist Youth - 1st and 3rd Sundays at 5 p.m. The youth group is made up of youth from Grace, Calvary, St. James, and Faith United Methodist Churches. The first Sunday is at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1610 South 11th Street. The third Sunday is at Grace.
